Recent developments in the Ethereum ecosystem suggest a possible upswing in its price, fueled by the evaluation of staking options for ETH ETFs. However, the cryptocurrency space has also witnessed a significant hack on Bybit, highlighting the need for enhanced security measures.

Ethereum Price Prediction: Potential for Big Gains with ETH ETF Staking Options

ETH ETFs were approved in July last year, but there has been limited progress in boosting the Ethereum price. However, there is hope as the SEC evaluates staking options on ETH ETFs, which could potentially drive the ETH price to around $5,000. Crypto experts advise that Ethereum could retest the $3,000 mark, indicating potential for significant gains.

Lazarus Group Strikes: Bybit Hit with Record $1.46B Hack

In a historic breach, Bybit lost $1.46 billion to hackers identified as the Lazarus Group, a North Korean hacking group. The breach involved stolen staked Ether (ETH) and ERC-20 tokens and has been classified as the largest crypto exchange hack. Industry giants, including OKX and KuCoin, offered support to Bybit, which continued operations smoothly without contagion like the FTX collapse. Arkham Intelligence announced the identification of the Lazarus Group behind the hack on February 21, with prominent on-chain security expert ZachXBT using on-chain data to confirm the hacker group.

Ethereum’s Dilemma: Rollback $1.4B From Bybit Hack or Face Global Sanctions?

Arthur Hayes, the co-founder of BitMEX, has urged Ethereum to rollback after a $1.4 billion hack on Bybit exchange. The decision could trigger regulatory scrutiny and OFAC sanctions. Samson Mow proposes creating “ETHNK” to prevent stolen funds from North Korea. Ethereum faces a dilemma on whether to hard fork stolen Ether or let the Bybit hack stand, balancing decentralization ideals with real-world threats.

Bybit Launches $140m Bounty to Track Down Crypto Heist

Bybit, the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, is offering a massive bounty to crack crypto’s largest theft in history. The exchange is pledging 10% of recovered funds—potentially up to $140 million—to cybersecurity experts and blockchain analysts who help track and retrieve stolen assets. The bounty is tied to the recovery of over $1.4 billion in compromised Ethereum. As part of the investigation and recovery efforts, Bybit is pledging 10% of recovered funds to reward ethical cyber and network security experts who play an active role in retrieving the stolen cryptocurrencies in the incident.
